Different installations to treat water and wastewater in tanks

Introduction

Tanks are used to store drinking water as well as wastewater. Depending of the material it is constituted, its size, its usage and its age, many problems are reported : acidic water, high BOD5, low TSS removal, grease deposits, corrosion, ...

Copper and Lead leaches into drinking water through corrosion of:

Pipes
Solder
inside of the tank

Wastewater treatment inefficient :
Very high BOD5
Low TSS removal
Accumulation of sludge ...

Many factors influence corrosion and the treatment of the water itself:

Water Characteristics :
pH
• Hardness
• velocity of flow
• temperature

Solution

With a PNW engineered tank aerated system, ADS fine bubble diffusers are placed on the bottom of the tank perpendicular to the flow of the water. Through the rise of the bubbles and subsequent mixing, convection cells are created between the diffusers. Not only does the water rise with the bubbles, the solids settle out through the downward motion of the water between the diffuser lines where the circulation loop is completed.

Because of exceptional oxygen transfer efficiency and grid coverage, ADS aeration combined to EPAeration Ozone machines are ideal for improving year water quality, or lower pH depending on the purpose of your installation.

Tanks can be an ideal installation for the initiation of bioaugmentation. Combining Bacta-Pur® to an ADS aeration system can dramatically decrease BOD5, sludge, grease and nitrate.
